Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss” debuts at No.1

Internet-burning Megan Thee Stallion's “Hiss” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in its first week of release. It's the Houston rapper's third No. 1 song following 2022's Grammy-winning “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé and “WAP” featuring Cardi B.

“Hiss” received critical acclaim for its inventive and fierce lyricism (including on this very website), and rap and gossip fans paid close attention to every line, speculating on who his disses might target. Nicki Minaj was visibly taken aback by a line referencing Megan's Law, the federal requirement for sex offenders to register with the government (Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree in 1995 and is now a registered sex offender). Minaj responded with her own breakaway track, the widely criticized “Big Foot.”

This summer, Megan Thee Stallion will release a new album and tour across the country. She recently signed a new deal with Warner Music Group that allows her to retain full ownership of her masters and releases.
