People say you should live without regrets, but we all have one or two things we regret doing (or not doing). This thread asked people, “What is one thing you regret not doing when you were younger?” » and the answers are VERY relevant. Here's what some people shared.
“Turning down invitations and opportunities to meet new people and travel to new places because I was too attached to my appearance. I was so hard on myself. And I apologize to her. “
“Being a teenager. I was too eager to grow up and focused almost exclusively on work between the ages of 15 and 25, so I missed out on everything.”
“Therapy. I should have started at 14 instead of 24, it would have avoided most of the stupid things I did.”
“Here are a few: take exercise as a hobby, take care of your skin, use moisturizer and sunscreen. Take better care of your teeth, spend more time with your parents and capture those moments through photos and videos.
“Looking back at how many opportunities I didn't realize because I was an idiot and didn't understand what I now see as strong signals from girls to make a move.”
“Focusing on school and going to college for something I really want to do.” I'm 34 now, and even though I make $150,000 a year, I find my career to be a huge waste of time. I work crazy overtime and travel, which leads to no life. Jobs aren't all that make me tick. I hope that next year I will be able to enroll and take a master's degree in psychology to become a therapist. Fucking sacrifice life for a check. I don't have any kids and I just became single, so it's time.”
“Being a better boyfriend to awesome girls I dated when I was younger.”
“Having the confidence to make my own decisions and not relying on people to encourage me.”
“I'm spending more time with my pets. They left earlier than expected and I regret every time I complained about walking the dog or skipped a riding lesson because I was too busy moping around my room. Enjoy them while they're here, or you'll regret it forever like me.”
“I try too hard to keep my friends when they use me and take advantage of my kindness. I've learned that not everyone wants to be your friend, and that's okay with me.”
