ScHoolboy Q shares two new songs “Blueslides” and “Back in Love”

Last week, ScHoolboy Q officially announced his upcoming album, Blue lips with a video trailer, tracklist and possible release date (March 1). Today, he returns with two songs: “Blueslides” and “Back in Love” with Devin Malik (only “Blueslides” is on the tracklist of Blue lips).

“Blueslides” is an open letter to fans addressing Q's prolonged absence from rap: Over a dark, jazzy beat, Q raps about how different struggles – including losing a friend to drugs and being taken advantage of by people he trusted – led to a struggle with depression: “I've been a prisoner in my own house, I don't know if they noticed / I fell broken down so many times, next time it will catch me.

In contrast, “Back In Love” serves to prove that he hasn't lost a step, with Q adopting a monotonous, dispassionate tone as he raps about his high lifestyle and low competition. Its music video features lots of adorable home video footage of Q as a child; see that and the visuals for “Blueslides” below.
