We're still disappointed with that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem—one of io9's favorites in 2023—did not get a nomination for best animated filmbut this teaser presenting derivative series Tales from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a powerful tonic.
The film's main cast returns: Micah Abbey as Donatello, Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo, Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo, Brady Noon as Raphael and newly minted Ayo Edebiri a Golden Globe and an Emmy thanks to The bearlike April O'Neil.
Scheduled this summer on Paramount+, the 2D animated show takes place in the same universe as Mutant Chaos and is produced by the same team of Nickelodeon Animation and Seth Rogen's Point Gray Pictures. It promises to explore “the adventures of everyone's favorite pizza-loving heroes as they emerge from the sewers onto the streets of New York.” Leo, Raph, Donnie and Mikey face new threats and team up with old allies to survive both teenage life and the villains lurking in the shadows of the Big Apple. Other players will be announced “soon”, probably to clarify who these allies and enemies could be.
