Russian President Vladimir Putin praised billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk in an interview he gave to expert Tucker Carlson that was posted online Thursday.
“I think nothing can stop Elon Musk,” Putin told Carlson after the expert asked him about the growing prevalence of artificial intelligence. “He will do as he pleases. However, you will have to find common ground with him. Look for ways to persuade him. I think he's an intelligent person. I sincerely believe he is. We will therefore have to find an agreement with him because this process must be formalized and subject to certain rules.
Musk has sparked controversy in recent months over his revamp of X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, and his embrace of anti-Semitic and other unproven theories.
Musk, who owns several major media and technology companies, oversees a vast communications network crucial to Ukraine's fight against Russia.
Last year, Putin called Musk an “exceptional person” after he admitted blocking Internet access to his Starlink satellites during a Ukrainian raid.
Carlson also praised Musk for his stewardship of X, the platform on which the former cable news host launched his new show after it was taken off the air by Fox News last April.
