Tefi Pessoa Gets Ready For Marc Jacobs 2024 Runway Show

By now, you've probably seen images from the Marc Jacobs show on February 2 at the Park Avenue Armory: the curiously puffed and pinched proportions, the Supremes hair and the rows and rows of false eyelashes. But what do you definitely have I could not According to the photos, content creator Tefi Pessoa prepared for the brand's 40th anniversary presentation in 45 minutes with a team that whipped up ribboned braids and colorful eyeliner to complete her trumpet skirt look ( worn with Kiki bootsnaturally).

Below, Pessoa brings NYLON to her apartment, where she's prepared with her cat Margelina Jolie for a Diana Ross-meets-dollhouse fashion party — and some unexpected relationship drama.

How was the preparation process?

I got ready in the living room of my apartment. I landed at JFK at 2:30 p.m. and didn't get to my apartment until 4:00 p.m., and I had to be in a car to get to the show at exactly 4:45 p.m. It was a wild ride, but we did it. We usually do everything in silence, and then 30 minutes later I'm like, “Oh shit, I forgot to put some music on.” And everyone says, “Whatever, let’s move on.” » But yes, we do it in silence and I play TikToks on my phone. Sometimes if I'm doing my hair and makeup for an event, I give everyone dumplings, but this time I was too stressed to even sip water.

Describe your look for the evening. How did you feel wearing it?

I usually keep things very neutral, but for Marc Jacobs we wanted to be a little more offbeat, so we opted for braids and blue eyeliner. It felt very futuristic, but when you're looking at a look you're not used to, it's easy to overthink and wonder if you look weird. But [my makeup artist] Tegan Rice always kills and my team would never let me go out looking crazy, so I was already used to eyeliner after 10 minutes. Sometimes when I do braids I'm afraid I'll look like a little girl, but I think it went perfectly with the cut.

Marc Jacobs is celebrating its 40th anniversary, what is your first memory of the brand?

I remember Marc was making headlines on the Perry Ellis show. And then his brand came out and everyone loved it. Marc made me want to be a little grunge girl in Miami. I think it's so refreshing, I love when fashion gets ridiculous. One of my favorite collections was from Spring 1998. I loved all the blue tones. I must have been 8 years old reading Vogue at the Publix checkout.

What caught your attention during the show?

The hair! It reminded me of street photos from 1970s London. I love big teases… hin the air. The last dress – silver, lots of little circular mirrors – was very, very Diana Ross. Everything I'm pro for Diana Ross. I appreciate how playful Marc Jacobs is. Models Wore These Little Mary Jane Heels [that looked like] if Mary Jane was on acid. It was a good reminder that this is all a disguise and it should be fun.

How was the rest of your evening after the show?

I went out with my best friend and we returned to her apartment to find her boyfriend in bed with another girl. It was… hectic.

You are known for being able to see the humor in many different situations. What's the funniest thing about attending Fashion Week?

They want you to drink all that alcohol and never look bloated. How? Every Fashion Week, I feel like I've been stung by 100 bees.
